Training

We endeavour to facilitate, train and equip the church to be mobilisation into all nations. There are various training programmes and we encourage and invite you to take part and get involved. The church must be prepared and ready to go!

Some of the courses we present are:

  • Sending Cell Training Course - training those interested in getting involved in supporting a Missionary.
  • The World Perspectives Course - basic for all interested in being actively involved in missions.
  • Reaching Your Muslim Neighbour Seminar – teaching foundational facts about Islam.

World Perspectives Course
Perspectives on the World Christian Movement is a dynamic course where you'll have an opportunity to discover what God is doing around the world and consider your part in His purposes. Perspectives will help you understand God's plan for our world--and possibly for your life--as you explore the following topics:

  • Biblical - God's unchanging purpose for the nations
  • Historical - Expansion and pioneers of the Christian Movement
  • Strategic - What are "unreached people groups" and why are they so important in the completion of God's eternal purpose?
  • Cultural - The Gospel and cross-cultural communication

Perspectives is offered throughout the year at some Regional Centers for World Mission and other extension sites around the world. Over 38,000 people have taken this course in the U.S. alone, with over 12,000 alumni in New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, and other countries.

With more than 600 speakers at over 100 locations annually, over 3000 students are exposed to some of the most innovative missions minds each year. Perspectives is taught by professors, missionariers, & teachers who have seen God at work all over the world--people like Don Richardson (missionary to the Sawi people and author of Peace Child), David Bryant (author of In the Gap, former mission specialist for InterVarsity, now Chairman of Concerts of Prayer International), and Ralph Winter (missionary to Guatemala and visionary founder of the USCWM).

A survey of Perspectives class alumni indicated:

  • 73% of 20,000 alumni are praying regularly for missions
  • 88% support missions financially
  • 29% serve on a church missions committee
  • 66% plan on long term service (2 years or more) in cross-cultural missions

"Evangelizing the world - especially unreached people groups - is a primary responsibility of Christians everywhere. Nothing I know of will inform and motivate Christians for world evangelization like Perspectives!" - Billy Graham

Reaching Your Muslim Neighbour (RYMN) Seminar
In today’s world many questions are asked about the Muslim people. There are many different views that influence or hinder us from reaching out to them with the love of Jesus. IMD presents a video seminar (using the Battle for the Hearts series), specifically aimed at giving you all the foundational information on Islam needed to meaningfully relate to Muslims, whether your neighbor or in the workplace. This series was created to facilitate evangelism by empowering local churches in Africa and throughout the world to reach out to the Muslims.

The seminar serves to equip participants with the necessary tools to deepen understanding of the religion of Islam, who Muslims are and how you can reach out to them effectively with the Gospel.

The following topics are included:

  • The origins of the religion of Islam
  • Islam’s beliefs and practices
  • The life of Muhammad
  • Apologetic arguments between Islam and Christianity
  • Practical methods that Christians can use in sharing the Good News with their Muslim neighbours and work colleagues.
